Responsible bankroll management is the foundation of a sustainable, enjoyable gambling experience. Before you place a single bet, decide on a fixed gambling budget — an amount you are entirely comfortable losing, separate from money set aside for rent, bills, food, and savings. Treat this budget as the total cost of entertainment for the month, not as an investment you expect to recover.
Once your total budget is set, divide it into individual session amounts. A common approach is to split your monthly budget into four weekly sessions, and each weekly session into daily limits if you play frequently. This prevents the common mistake of burning through an entire month's budget in one or two sessions during a losing streak.
Apply the 1–5% per-bet rule: never wager more than 1% to 5% of your total session bankroll on a single bet or spin. For example, if your session budget is ৳2,000, your individual bets should stay between ৳20 and ৳100. This approach ensures variance — the natural ups and downs of any game — does not wipe out your session in a handful of rounds.
Set a win target as well as a loss limit before each session. A sensible win target might be 50% of your session bankroll — if you turn ৳2,000 into ৳3,000, consider stopping for the day and locking in the profit. Chasing bigger wins after a good run is one of the fastest routes to giving back your gains. Equally, if you hit your predetermined loss limit, walk away immediately — no exceptions, no extra top-ups.
Keep a simple play diary — either in a notebook or a phone app — recording each session's starting balance, ending balance, duration, and games played. Over time, this data reveals patterns: which game types cost you the most, which sessions tend to run longest, and whether your overall spend stays within the budget you set. Data-driven self-awareness is the most effective tool for keeping gambling recreational rather than problematic.
